Don’t Say This:

  1. Why did you choose that major?
  2. What do you think you’re going to do with that degree?
  3. Is there a boy/girl?
  4. You’ve been eating well…
  5. There aren’t many men/women in that major. It must be hard to date.
  6. Are you feeling ready for the world?
  7. Who’s your pastor out there?
  8. Can you babysit?
  9. How late did you sleep in?
  10. Back in my day…

Instead, say this:

  1. Do you have any plans this summer?
  2. Are there any home-cooked meals you’ve missed?
  3. I’m so happy to see you!
  4. Do you like your major?
  5. How is college going?
  6. Have you found any nice places to visit?
  7. I’m praying for you to be happy, successful, etc.
  8. How is your family doing?
  9. Would you like to join us for a game/movie night?
  10. Has anyone told you about church news/events?
